Sow feeding
Healthy, happy and well fed
Each individual sow can receive the exact feed they need, whether that be in the waiting pen, breeding centre or farrowing pen. The feed is transported in dry form and can then be dispensed at the trough either in dry or liquid form. This allows the benefits of pneumatic feeding to be combined with those of liquid feeding. Optionally, one outlet pipe can be provided for every 4 sows kept in the crate. Group housing at the cross trough can also be implemented.
The feed can individually adjusted to the needs of each individual sow according to their age, weight and litter size. The TEWE mixing and dosing technology prepares portions of all sizes with no downtimes and mixes in minute quantities of additives as required. Airfeed is controlled via the central feeding computer which monitors all functions and processes.
In many pens, Airfeed sow feeding has already achieved astonishing results when combined with piglet liquid feeding, and earned plus points in terms of weight gain and health status. For more information see ‘Piglet feeding’
In conclusion
Thanks to the many benefits outlined below, the Airfeed technology is an optimal solution for sow feeding which not only increases the efficiency of the feeding processes, but also improves the wellbeing and health of the animals.
Benefits
-
Individual feed dispensing::
Every sow in the waiting pen, breeding centre, or farrowing area receives the feed they need according to their age, weight, or litter size.
-
For strong farrowing performance::
Optimising milk production means the piglets are better fed, which supports their health and growth
-
Sows in optimal health::
Precise feeding and needs-based additives boost the health and wellbeing of the sows in every area.
-
Reduced costs::
Efficient, needs-based feeding saves feed, additives and medicine.
-
Larger broods and higher weaning weights::
Better feeding strategies produce larger broods and higher weaning weights among piglets.
-
Less working time::
-
Increased efficiency::
Efficient feeding processes increase the farm’s overall productivity.
-
Improved animal welfare::
Precise, needs-based feeding contributes to the wellbeing and happiness of the animals.
Features
Multifunctional system:
- A system used to supply animals with feed, straw or, for example, CCM (corn cob mix). It is also possible to dose maize silage.
Efficient feed distribution:
- Quickest and shortest path: Time losses and waiting times are minimised thanks to efficient valve switching times and optimal distributor positioning.
- Automatic control: Saves a significant amount of time and labour.
- Optimal hygiene: Direct, unobstructed transportation routes prevent the buildup of feed residues in the pipes and ensure compliance with the highest hygiene standards.
- Stainless steel construction: All pipes and components are made completely from stainless steel to ensure durability and hygiene.
Flexibility in feed preparation:
- Dry feed from the mixer to the feeding station: The feed is transported directly from the mixer to the feeding station without any diversions.
- Optional mash preparation: Mash can be prepared directly above the feed trough, which offers added flexibility in feeding.
- Advantages of liquid feeding: Combines the advantages of pneumatic feeding with those of liquid feeding for flexible, needs-based feed provision.
Control can be individually configured:
- The TEWE feeding control can be individually adjusted to the specific needs of the animals and the farm.
